Enterprise Application with SCIM Provisioning

The EnergySys Enterprise Application with SCIM Provisioning is called 'Foundation Cloud for Energy' and is required to be setup within the customers Entra ID to all their authenticated users to get access to EnergySys.

Setting up the Enterprise Application can be performed by following our step-by-step guide once a customer has provided their Entra Tenant ID to EnergySys, and it has been registered.

Troubleshooting

While the guide attempts to assist Entra Administrators there are some points below that are worth checking if difficulties are encountered.

StepCheck
Description
1Has Entra Tenant ID been sent to EnergySys?
Only once the Entra Tenant ID has been registered with EnergySys should the step-by-step guide be followed.
Please send the Entra Tenant ID to EnergySys support
2Has 'Foundation Cloud for Energy' Enterprise Application been created?
Following the step to create the Enterprise Application will mean result in the 'Foundation Cloud for Energy' Enterprise Application being added to your Entra ID. If the Enterprise Application does not exist please ensure you have the correct Entra ID administrative permissions to create Enterprise Applications.
3Has a user been added as a Tenant Administrator? To allow the SCIM relationship to be created between the customers EnergySys it is required for a Tenant Administrator role to be assigned.

Multiple users can be set as the Tenant Administrators

Only users that are Tenant Administrators can access https://admin.energysys.com

If you are not a tenant administrator you will receive a message advising that you do not have permissions.
4Has a Client Secret been created on https://admin.energysys.com?Tenant Administrators can access https://admin.energysys.com. When an error message account is encountered is likely due to the user with the tenant administrators not being used when accessing.

It is recommended to access from a private browsing window to ensure users are authenticated correctly. We have seen some Entra Administrators have multiple accounts, they must ensure that they are using the same account to authenticate that is assigned the Tenant Administrator role.
5Has the SCIM provisioning been setup?
SCIM provisioning must be setup to ensure that users that are allowed access are made available to EnergySys. From https://admin.energysys.com when a token is generated it, along with the provided URL must be used to setup SCIM provisioning. Care must be taken to ensure that the mandatory Group and User Attribute mappings have been set.
6Has SCIM provisioning been enabled? To ensure that EnergySys receives user updates from your Entra ID SCIM provisioning needs to be enabled. This ensures that user changes are shared with EnergySys every 40 minutes. This is for new users and removed users.
7Have the User and Group Mappings been completed accurately
Care must be taken to ensure that the mandatory Group and User Attribute mappings have been set.
In particular the User Attribute Mapping for userName must be to originalUserPrincipalName.
8Has the 'Test Connection' been successfully completed?Once all settings have been put into place testing the connection will feedback if your Entra ID has been able to connect to EnergySys. If there are any errors please check the steps above and advise EnergySys support.
9Have test users been able to get accessFor initial testing it is advised for test users to visit https://app.energysys.com in a private browsing window for their initial logo on. If test is successful please notify your EnergySys support contact so that they may confirm access.
If any issues are encountered contact EnergySys Support
10New users are not able to access https://app.energysys.com
When new users are added and SCIM provisioning is enabled it may take up to 40 minutes for users to appear as user in EnergySys. If users are required to get access quicker than this then users can be provisioned on-demand.
All users will still require a role within EnergySys before being able to access screen.
