Provisioning on Demand
In Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory), the provisioning service typically runs initial and incremental synchronisation cycles between the source system (Azure AD) and the target system (Foundation SCIM). This can take some time, especially for larger directories or more complex setups. However, on-demand provisioning can be used to quickly provision users or groups for immediate access to Foundation Applications without needing to wait for Entra to synchronise everything automatically.
This article requires that SCIM provisioning for the Foundation Cloud for Energy application has previously been setup.
Select Enterprise Application
Within your companies Entra portal log in with a user that can access the 'Foundation Cloud for Energy' Enterprise Application.
Once logged in select Microsoft Entra ID.
Within the Manage folder select Enterprise applications.
Search for and select the Foundation Cloud for Energy application.
Configure Provision on demand for the Application
From the side menu expand Manage and select Provisioning.
Ensure that Provisioning Mode is set to Automatic. (For more information, see Configuring SCIM Within Entra).
Select the Provision on demand tab.
Search for the User or Group that you wish to change the setting for.
With the User or Group select click the Provision to enable the on-demand provisioning cycle.
Verifying Provisioning on Demand
After running the on-demand provisioning, check the Provisioning logs to confirm that the user or group was successfully provisioned. You can also verify in the target application that the user has been created or updated.
By using on-demand provisioning, you can significantly reduce the delay in getting users or groups provisioned to an application, enabling them to access the app in a matter of seconds instead of waiting for the next scheduled synchronisation cycle.
