Reset Another User's Password

In EnergySys, user administrators are able to add, modify, reset and disable users who are members of their organisation. If you are a user administrator, the sections below describe the steps to reset a users password.

Note: These steps apply where your user security is managed within EnergySys. If this is not the case, most of the options shown below will not be displayed and, to manage users, you will need to get from help your company IT department.

Log in to EnergySys and follow the profile link in the top right corner of the screen.

This link takes you to your profile page where you can update your personal information, password, security questions, etc. Click on the 'Admin' button in the top right corner of the screen.

The 'Admin' dashboard is displayed. Click on the 'Directory' menu and select 'People'.

The 'People' screen is displayed. If the user name is known, use the search box to find the user and select them (A). Alternatively click 'Reset Passwords' (B).

If 'Reset Passwords' has been selected the menu will show users with expired tokens and users who have been locked out.

Select the desired users from the list, then select 'Reset Password'. The following pop-up menu will allow you to send password reset emails to the selected users.

If you have gone directly to the users profile, select 'Reset Password'.

The pop-up menu will give two options:

  1. Send a password reset link to the user's email address.
  2. Set a temporary password for the account that must be reset when the user logs in. This can only be performed from the user's profile directly, not the multiple reset password selection list.

The password reset email will have an appearance like this, the reset link will have a limited duration and will need to be sent again if the user does not provide a new password within the hour. The user will be asked their security question and for their MFA token during the password reset process.

If you have generated a temporary password, this must be shared with the user in some other secure manner.
